My experience at Harris Resort in Batam

I've just came back from Batam last Friday. A piece of advice- if you ever were to stay at Harris Resort @ Batam, go for the most basic room rates, which is about 90+ per night. Then when you are there, request for all the stuff you want and pay extra if you have to, ala carte. I took the package which includes some other stuff and upon calculation, is not worth it, especially so when I hardly finish the minibar which I paid for in terms of per night. Logically the resort is supposed to refill the minibar daily but didn't. I have internet access included, however I changed my mind last minute and left my laptop at home as I thought that that is the last thing one should bring when relaxing at a resort, right?

It was my first time to Batam and my friend told me I could shop there. I just have to book my seat on the resort's shuttle bus to town. As stated on their website, they brought the guests to a mall called Nagoya Something. Wah lao, it's so boring there. They just dumped us there and collected us in 3 hours time. There I was still thinking to myself, "3 hours where got enough?" The moment I stepped into the mall, I felt like turning back to run after the minibus. After going round the mall twice, I decided that the salon (Christopher Salon) is the easiest place to pass the time. Had a lousy wash and blow, and a lousy pedicure. My scalp actually itched after the wash. VERY bad standards, the worst being the pedicure. The tools handling were actually the most unhygienic I have ever seen. If I were to rate the typical nail service in my neighbourhood as a 7/10, the Batam one is a 1/10. So what if it's so cheap (like 50% cheaper). It IS supposed to be cheap cos it's Batam of Indonesia, and at a mall where "birds don't nest" !! I was glad as hell when the Harris Resort shuttle bus came!

I wasn't familiar or confident enough there to go running around. I tried looking around outside of the building but there is nothing. My friend told me she shops a lot whenever she trips to Batam, I really have to ask her where she shopped at out of curiousity.
